ABOUT THE ARTIST
Cara Moczygemba is an Indianapolis, Indiana artist. She grew up in Los Angeles and has lived in San Francisco, London and New Orleans. Traveling through out Europe and Arabia as a teenager, she was introduced to the masterpieces of Western Art and, thus, began her serious consideration of a career as an artist. She received her Masters of Fine Arts from California State University Long Beach and is a 1997 recipient of a Louisiana Arts Fellowship for sculpture.

Her work was appeared in The Ceramic Design Book, Clay and Glazes for the Potter, The Craft and Art of Clay, Ceramics Monthly, Southern Living and she demonstrated her technique on the Discovery Channel.  In addition to raising her two daughters with husband and artist Michael Fee, Arabella and Sabine, both named for streets in New Orleans, Cara teaches ceramics at the Indianapolis Art Center. She demonstrates her unique hand building techniques for American Art Clay Company and the Indiana State Museum. This is her fifth exhibition at the gallery.

IN HER OWN WORDS
Ceramics is a perfect fusion of painting and sculpture, color and form. I have been exploring painting through sculpture, creating self-portraits. Always, I have considered my work to be self-portraiture: each piece is a facet of the whole, a sentence in a story. Little by little, the skin is peeled back to reveal the journey of my life.
