IN
HIS OWN WORDS
When I conceptualize and assemble a particular
show, it is an intense process. The reason for making a particular
image, and the meaning behind a painting, can change in the time
it takes to complete the work. It can be easy to lose focus. In
order to avoid doubt or anxiety, I utilize the elements in my life
that are most important to me: family, friends, relationships, familiar
objects and my environment. I enjoy the suspension of logic and
reality the painting medium offers. The work may look serious, and
I want it to be serious, but, the underlying element continues to
be an essential humor. The imagery evolves with each year and with
each show, and I continue to be pleased with the direction the work
has taken.
